Vision

To understand the biology of adaptive changes and exploit them in the practice of medicine.  Have a powerful and advancing society in adaptive medicine that supports both young and established scientists of the scientific community to deliver high-quality research and patient care all over the world.

History and Purpose

The International Society for Adaptive Medicine (ISAM) was established in 1990 in Freiberg, Germany, to increase awareness, as well as furthering our understanding of adaptive changes in human body organs. The Society aims to study not only the basic mechanisms of adaptation but also their applications, for the treatment and prevention of diseases. Society consists of molecular biologists, basic and clinical researchers as well as physicians who are engaged through conferences and other networking around the world to share education, innovation and exchange of ideas for newer therapies.

Although medicine has progressed significantly, much is yet to be known about many factors such as cell system alterations in response to environmental factors, nutritional and lifestyle changes, work related stress and drug treatments. Understanding potential mechanisms of disease complexity, and to design new ways to treat or prevent different disease conditions, are urgently needed.

For this purpose, ISAM supports regional symposia, as well as congresses around the world, which will create connectivity among young and senior scientists, develop novel ideas and discoveries to prevent and/or treat different disease conditions.

Goals

  • Promote the interchange of ideas globally between scientists and clinicians interested in all aspects of biology and medicine.
  • Promote innovation and distribution of knowledge in all areas of biology and medicine.
  • Organize and support national and international congresses devoted to all aspects of research.
  • Provide an intercontinental forum for discussion of problems and controversies at the cutting edge of science.
  • Support the growth and advancement of young scientists by facilitating international opportunities and organizing workshops.
  • Recognize young as well as established scientists by celebrating their achievements.
  • Raise funds to organize scientific meetings, conferences, workshops and public forums.
